The Sycamore Athletic Hall of Fame announced the members of its 2026 class who will be inducted in a ceremony on April 18.
Jim Weeks (Sycamore class of 1994), John Purdom (1999), Brad Neumann (2003), Lauren Hancher (2012), Jake Borman (2013) and coach Jay McDaniel will be inducted. The 2012 girls basketball team is also being honored.
Weeks was a standout football player and wrestler for Sycamore. He held the Aviator record for career tackles and was first-team All-Greater Miami Conference, all-city and all-district as a senior. As a wrestler that year, Weeks was the 140-pound champion in the GMC and was again first-team All-GMC, all-city and all-district.
Purdom was a three-year varsity basketball player, but was a standout on the diamond and was ranked as the No. 2 baseball player in Ohio in 1999. The two-time first-team all-city player went to Indiana State and spent several season playing in the minor league systems for the Cincinnati Reds and Florida Marlins.
Neumann led Sycamore to its first GMC championship in cross country as a senior when he was also selected as first-team All-Ohio with multiple other conference, city and regional honors. In track, he was a state qualifier and went on to to run at the University of Cincinnati.
Hancher was a three-year varsity athlete in soccer and basketball, leading both to district championships as a senior, getting all-district honors in both sports. She played both sports at the College of Wooster and was first-team all-conference in both.
