Girls' Team:
The Sycamore Aviators began their season with an early morning bus ride and a meet against tough competition. Rising above first meet nerves and prison-like feeling of the meet security and setup, the Boys and Girls Aviators came to compete!Â
In the Girls' Varsity Race, the Lady Aves Varsity finished 13th (out of 33 teams).Â
Senior Margaux Newman (20:48) and sophomore Rachel Brower ( 21:04) led the Aves charge. Senior Dani Pereda (21:31), Freshman Alaina Vergari (21:40), Junior Amarya Trotter (21:54), Junior Lucy Wolfenberger (21:54) Elisabetta Filippi (21:54) rounded out the top seven. Also competing well in the varsity race were Junior Corinne Schatz (21:58), Junior Charlotte Gould (22:04), and Freshman Joey Phoenix (22:23)Â Â
The Lady Aves Open team finished 5th (out of 14). Freshman Charlotte Busby (22:29) and sophomore Maddie Michitti (22:30) led the Lady Aves finishing in the top 10 of the running field and earning a place on the podium. Senior Ashley Pinckert (24:07), sophomore Makayla MItchell (24:24), sophomore Lily Cole (25:43), freshman Emma Miller (25:45), senior Natalie Paroz (25:50), freshman Ellen Schatz (26:02), freshman Payton House and senior Eva Alexander (26:49) also competed well for the Aviators.Â

Boys' Team:
Amidst the mayhem of tightly packed races and limited access to the starting line, the Aves Men's team also turned in a solid performance across the sun-soaked course at Fortress Obetz in the OHSAA Early Season Invitational! The team finished 12th out of 33 teams.
In the Girls' Varsity Race, Sophomore Eli Reuter led the way in a career best time of 17:38, marking his first time breaking the 18-minute barrier. He was followed closely by Juniors Alex Filippi (17:46) and Ethan Feiler (17:51), and sophomore Matteo Meli (17:57), forming a tightly bunched Aviator pack. Alex, Ethan, and Matteo all set career PRs, setting the stage for things to come as the season progresses!  The top 7 was rounded out by Freshmen James Suffield (18:27), Nick Richter (18:37), and Truman Sayles (18:38), who all turned in strong performances in their first ever 5k races representing the Aves. Freshmen Quinton Pletz (18:51) and Sam Weiss (19:07) also had solid first-5k performances in the varsity races, with sophomore Gabe Reuter (19:33) fighting through recent injury in a hard-fought opening race.
The Mens Open Race, Sophomore Joe Richmond got out to a fast start and hovered in the top 10 pack before finishing 13th overall (18:58). He was followed closely by Sophomore Gabriel Newman in a career-best (19:31) and Freshman Sebastian Gentle (19:39).  Freshman Michael Laughlin became the final member of this exciting freshman class to break the 20-minute barrier, opening the season with an impressive time of 19:52. The Open Race also saw solid opening race performances from Ryan Dworznik (20:14), Kyle Hoge (20:41), and Jack Richmond (20:47). All three runners should expect to break the 20-minute barrier soon!Â
